A spin-off band from the full line-up of Kiss the Blarney,
John and Arthur often go out as a duo. This is because Ralph is often
playing with another band and we got a bit fed up of So as John is a first rate guitarist as well as a bass player, and Arthur can play just about everything except the banjo, we thought we'd be a whizz at the music on our own. And so it has proved.
It also has the advantage of being slightly cheaper than three piece band, and, as it is also considerably smaller, we can fit into smaller places. We play much the same kind of material - all the classic Irish songs and choruses that everyone knows and loves, a stack of jigs and reels to keep the feet tapping and the odd inebriated personage attempting to demonstrate how Riverdance really went, and a few new songs that should, if there's any justice in the world, end up by being traditional in a couple of hundred years time. Anyway, what instruments turn up with the band? It's hard to be
precise, but mostly John plays guitar and bass, while Arthur veers between
fiddle, mandolin, accordion, flute, All good fun, and perfect for pubs, parties, weddings - anywhere, really, where there are people who like a good time and (usually) where alcohol is available. Not that we drink, of course. Not unless we can get a lift home, anyway...
